Chip Stranahan, Director Operations Analysis

DSC01809He is responsible for train derailment and crossing accident investigations, computer simulation modeling, testing, instrumentation, and data analysis. Proficient in the use and application of track/train dynamics simulation models including the AAR’s Train Operations Simulator (TOS), the Train Operations and Energy Simulator (TOES), and the Quasi-static Lateral Train Stability Model (QLTS). Additional computer modeling expertise includes the Train Transit Predictor (TTP) model for fuel consumption, running time evaluation, and tonnage rating studies as well as the Derailment Predictor Model (DPM), and the SOLIDWORKS® mechanical drawing package.

Jack Chislett, P.E., Director Operations Analysis

DSC_0115Responsible for the use and application of Track/Train Dynamics Simulation Models such as the AAR’s Train operations Simulator (TOS), Train Operations and Energy Simulator (TOES), Vertical and Horizontal Curve Negotiation Program (VHCNP) and the Quasi-static Lateral Train Stability Model (QLTS). These models are used to study the cause and prevention of derailments and the TOS and TOES models are also useful in stopping distance calculations for signal spacing studies and crossing accident cases. Also use and apply the Train Transit Predictor Model (TTP) for fuel consumption, running time and tonnage rating studies. Field experience includes work as a survey party chief and instrument man for yard and mainline track surveys.

Larry Guthrie, General Director Operations Analysis

Larry GuthrieHe responsible for providing analytical, certification, and planning services to the domestic and international rail industry utilizing computer simulation, physical auditing, testing, and applied engineering methods to access factors impacting safe and efficient train operations, capacity planning, process improvement, and accident/derailment investigations. Larry holds an AAS in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from Virginia Western College and a BS in Management from Southern Polytechnic State University. He is a current or past member of the International Association of Railway Operating Officers, AAR Implementations Officers, Institute of Industrial Engineers, and International Management Council. He holds certifications in Project Management, Six Sigma, Supply Chain Management, Lean, Locomotive Engineer, and Designated Instructor of Locomotive Engineers.

 Sheng Lu

Sheng LuSheng’s responsibilities focus on rail vehicle dynamics, design of measurement and testing equipment (mechatronics), as well as general testing and instrumentation. Sheng works regularly with modeling/simulation programs such as VAMPIRE and LS-DYNA.
